In Which States is Dental Implantology a Recognized Specialty?

I was surprised to learn that in some states this specialty is not accredited – someone just out of dental school can advertise and perform implants, without specialized training.

Is there any list of states in which this requires specific training? Esp interested in PA and CA.

I don’t believe it’s a specialty in any state. Most oral surgeons and periodontists perform this, and then the patients return to their general dentist for the ‘screw’ and crown…

Those are your specialists who are the masters with implants. Some general dentists do them as well, but the specialists have the additonal training….

Although I will say that some general dentists have mastered this as well, but an equal amount have attempted to do it when they have no business trying…
