What do dentists put on people’s teeth, to make them whiter?

Dentists can recommend a peroxide based solution that you can use at home. The dentist takes a mould of your teeth and sends it to a dental technician who creates mouth trays (that are shaped to your teeth) where you can apply the solution to (no more than a pinhead amount in each tooth section of the trays) and then apply the trays to your teeth. Depending upon the solution chosen, there are ones that you can wear for an hour a day, or wear at night whilst you sleep. These usually have to be worn over 2 weeks, at night time or for an hour a day. Remember that there are different percentages (the strength of the solution). It is also advisable that before putting any solution on your teeth, to put a very small dab of the solution onto your gum, just to make sure that you have no allergy to it. Some dentists also can do laser whitening treatment; which is done (approx 1 hour) in the dental chair. Laser treatment can be sometimes more expensive than the take home applications.
